Trent Tucker Joins System Academic Administration

Trent TuckerTrent Tucker, Gopher basketball player, NBA star, Timberwolves announcer, and U alumnus has joined the staff of System Academic Administration as a Community Relations and Youth Development coordinator. Contributing to youth development throughout the state and helping educators prepare children for college success is one of the goals of Transforming the U, so it is especially gratifying to have someone with Trent’s skills and experience join this initiative.

Trent has worked extensively with community youth development in the Twin Cities, having started a foundation and launched programs that serve at-risk youth and involve children of all ages in positive educational activities.  He is now bringing that experience to the University in a position dedicated to enhancing youth development and mentoring activities at the University and with external communities by facilitating new programs and promoting and supporting existing youth development programs in partnership with colleges and units. His primary responsibilities will include:

  • Working with colleges and departments to support and contribute to their youth development programs across the University;

  • Promoting and expanding community outreach that leverages both University and community youth development expertise and resources;

  • Speaking on behalf of the University to both internal and external audiences to promote the importance of youth development;

  • Serving as a mentor for students and promoting mentorship opportunities;

  • Working with Senior Vice President Robert Jones and System Academic Administration units and programs on youth development initiatives.
