UMore Park is a 5,000-acre site 25 miles southeast of the Twin Cities at the suburban-rural interface in Dakota County. The University’s vision for the UMore Park property is of a vibrant, sustainable community for 20,000 to 30,000 people, to unfold over the next 30 years. Strategic development of the property will create a new and increasingly significant revenue stream for the University. The integration of University research, teaching and learning, and outreach into planning and development will distinguish the community and support the University’s strategic goals.
The plan for this new, sustainable community integrates environmental, socio-cultural and economic opportunities with a specific focus on innovations in renewable energy, education and lifelong learning, health and wellness, the natural environment and regional economic development.
Reflecting a balance of real estate development expertise and academic integrity, UMore Park encompasses two integrally related structures: the UMore Development Limited Liability Company, established by the Board of Regents in October 2009, and the Office for UMore Park Academic Initiatives, created in July 2010.
