Academic Administration, University of Minnesota system
Under the direction of Senior Vice President Robert J. Jones, the Office for Academic Administration, University of Minnesota System, provides academic and administrative leadership for coordinate campuses and for statewide and systemwide programs advancing the mission of the University of Minnesota.
In addition to oversight of coordinate campuses, we carry responsibility for focused central administrative leadership for the entire five-campus University system in the areas of strategic planning, public engagement, international programs, information technology, and other priorities. OAA units and initiatives extend the University's academic mission across Minnesota, the nation and the world. We ensure accountability and excellence for research, teaching, and outreach programs in all corners of the state and leverage wide-ranging academic and administrative resources to strengthen the entire University system.
Our portfolio of responsibilities spans academic administration broadly across the University, including:
- Coordinate campus leadership (administrative, academic, and operational oversight of the University's campuses in Crookston, Duluth, Morris, and Rochester);
- Central academic administration for all campuses (planning and research, human resources, information technology, equity and diversity, and other academic support functions serving the entire University);
- Statewide/systemwide academic programs and strategic initiatives (international programs, UMore Park, College Readiness, the Healthy Foods/Healthy Lives Institute, and other central institutional priorities); and
- Statewide/systemwide public engagement (including the Office for Public Engagement, Extension, Mid-Central Research and Outreach Center, the Center for Transportation Studies, systemwide urban initiatives including UROC and CURA, and statewide programs in economic/community development and youth and family issues).
