Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

In a message to you last month, I indicated that I would continue to provide monthly updates on our important strategic positioning efforts.

Much of January has been spent putting together all pieces of the strategic positioning work that has been done into a single, coherent document that states a vision designed to secure the University's leadership position in the 21st century.  The resulting report (available online) has been greatly influenced by the rich feedback received from faculty, staff, students, and alumni via the Strategic Positioning Web Site, the Town Hall forums, and numerous additional public presentations and discussions. The Strategic Positioning Report will be reviewed by the Board of Regents at its February meeting.  I strongly urge you, too, to read and respond to the report.  As always, I welcome your comments, which you may communicate directly to me at mailto:provost@umn.edu.
