Vision

As part of the University of Minnesota’s overall goal to be one of the top three public research universities in the world, the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs fosters a culture at the University of Minnesota that welcomes, encourages, supports, and sustains a diverse faculty as they achieve excellence in scholarship, teaching, service, and public engagements. The vision of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs is to be a national and international leader in the study of the faculty life course and the creation and delivery of innovative faculty initiatives.

Mission

The purpose of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs is:

• To provide support and resources for the promotion and tenure programs and process,
• To support the post-tenure review process,
• To provide faculty development opportunities across the faculty life course,
• To foster recognition of faculty nationally, internationally, and internally for both scholarship and teaching,
• To partner in efforts to recruit, retain, and support a diverse faculty,
• To engage in scholarship of the academic profession, and
• To promote the assessment of student learning at undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels.
