As vice provost, Arlene Carney assists the faculty at all stages of their careers, with primary responsibility for faculty promotion and tenure review, and faculty development and recognition processes. In addition, she will facilitate the University's efforts in learning assessment.
Prior to her appointment to vice provost, Prof. Carney was associate dean for academic programs in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) and chaired the Council of Undergraduate Deans. As professor of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences in CLA, her primary research interests involve the development of speech perception and speech production skills in children with hearing loss as well as audiovisual speech perception.
