The Office of Space Management serves the University of Minnesota by tracking and managing the University's current and proposed space resources efficiently and in accordance with the University's best interests and goals.

Services

The Office of Space Management performs the following services:

  • maintains a systemwide inventory of University space
  • provides building and floor plan drawings that depict square footage, departmental assignments, space use, and other information
  • performs space analyses in conformance with Minnesota Facilities Model (MFM) guidelines and tests programmatically driven "what if" scenarios
  • supports the University's strategic planning initiatives (programmatic, financial, and physical) from the perspective of space needs and use
  • assists in the development of programs for groups involved in capital projects and major relocations
  • develops and updates the University's space classification codes in conformance with federal guidelines to support the institution's indirect cost recovery negotiations
