The Office for Equity and Diversity is pleased to announce the winners of the first annual Scholarly Excellence in Equity and Diversity (SEED) Awards. View the list of 2008 SEED Award recipients.
The undergraduate SEED Awards program is designed to honor diverse undergraduate students who are doing outstanding work at the University of Minnesota, both in and out of the classroom. The graduate SEED Awards program recognizes excellence in equity and diversity scholarship and research at the Ph.D. level. Individual awards vary in amount; between $15,000 and $20,000 will be awarded to up to fiften 2008 SEED Award winners.
The SEED Awards will be presented on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the University of Minnesota Equity and Diversity Breakfast. Learn more about the Equity and Diversity Breakfast.

The undergraduate SEED Award program honors outstanding diverse undergraduate students who are currently registered for full-time study at the University of Minnesota.

Undergraduate SEED Award recipients are diverse students who demonstrate impressive achievement and leadership in at least ONE of the two following areas:
All SEED Award recipients will demonstrate a deep understanding of and commitment to issues of equity, diversity, and social justice through their academic work and/or service to the community. Six to ten undergraduate SEED Awards, ranging from $1000 to $3000, are awarded each year.

The graduate SEED Award honors outstanding graduate students at the University of Minnesota whose research is focused on issues of equity, diversity, and/or social justice, and who demonstrate outstanding creativity, innovation, and potential for scholarly and/or professional excellence in their discipline or field. One graduate SEED Award of $2000 will be awarded each year.
Graduate SEED Award recipients are chosen from the pool of current doctoral students in the Graduate School who have been awarded doctoral fellowships for the 2008-09 academic year.
