![]() |
Thursday, November 19, 2009, 7:30-9:30 a.m.
McNamara Alumni Center, 200 E. Oak St., University of Minnesota
Sponsored by the Office for Equity and Diversity, the Equity and Diversity Breakfast provides a place for the University community to build new relationships and strengthen existing relationships across campus and across the state in support of the University’s equity and diversity work. Dollars raised by the Breakfast from corporate sponsorships will be used in support of the SEED Awards program, honoring high-achieving diverse undergraduate and graduate students.
The Breakfast brings together the University community and external stakeholders—alumni, donors, community organizations, and corporate entities—to recognize the students, faculty, and staff doing the work and reaffirm the University’s commitment to equity and diversity. Highlights of the event will include:
The Equity and Diversity Gallery of Excellence will be held in the A.J. Johnson Room during the Equity and Diversity Breakfast, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The Gallery of Excellence will exhibit equity and diversity projects, programs, and research from around the University of Minnesota. All University colleges, departments, and administrative units are invited to submit an application to exhibit in the Gallery of Excellence. Click here for more information and application instruction.
The presentation of the SEED Awards (Scholarly Excellence in Equity and Diversity) will take place during the Breakfast. The SEED Awards recognize diverse undergraduate and graduate students who are doing outstanding work both in and out of the classroom. Click here for more information and the SEED Award application.
President Robert Bruininks and Vice President/Vice Provost Rusty Barcelo will offer brief remarks about the University of Minnesota's commitment and progress regarding equity and diversity.
