OED units moving to Appleby Hall: In mid-July, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Ally Programs Office, the Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence, and the Women's Center will move from Klaeber Court to Appleby Hall. The move is part of an effort to increase the visibility and accessibility of these units to students, staff, faculty and community members. The move is scheduled to take place the week of July 13-17, with normal operations resuming during the week of July 27-31. Phone numbers and e-mail addresses will remain the same for all staff members of the three units.
Call for applications for 2009 SEED Awards: The Office for Equity and Diversity is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the 2009 undergraduate Scholarly Excellence in Equity and Diversity (SEED) Awards, honoring diverse undergraduate students who excel both in and out of the classroom. The deadline to submit an application is September 25, 2009, at 4:30 p.m. SEED recipients will receive their awards at the 2009 Equity and Diversity Breakfast.

Pelayo-Woodward wins 2009 Josie R. Johnson Award: The Office for Equity and Diversity is pleased to announce that Susana Pelayo-Woodward, director of the Office of Cultural Diversity at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, has been named the 2009 winner of the Josie R. Johnson Human Rights and Social Justice Award, sponsored annually by the Office for Equity and Diversity. Pelayo-Woodward, who has worked at UMD since 1992, is a leader on the Duluth campus with regard to social justice issues as a administrator, teacher, advisor, and volunteer.
OED's framework for transforming the U: Reimagining Equity and Diversity is OED's vision for building a framework for the University's equity and diversity work. The framework identifies eight priority areas and a number of possible action steps for colleges, departments, and administrative units to consider in their own diversity work.
