The Twin Cities campus has set ambitious goals to improve its graduation rates from their historically low levels. The 2012 goals are:
- four-year graduation rate of 50 percent,
- five-year rate of 70 percent,
- six-year rate of 75 percent.
The figure below shows that all graduation rates have improved substantially over the last nine years.

The table below shows the most recent comparative graduation rate data for the top public institutions in the Association of American Universities. Despite recent improvements in graduation rates, the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities still ranks at or near the bottom of this group.
